PreK Holiday Party & Kindergarten Info Night

Families of PreK students are invited to learn more about HPS kindergarten and to start the enrollment process at a Holiday Party on Tuesday, December 9, 5-7pm at West Elementary!

  • Dinner served for all families (please RSVP)
  • Cookie Decorating & Crafts for the kids
  • A Christmas Gift for all kids
  • A visit from Santa!

Downtown Holland To Host Winter Gear Donation Drive to Benefit HPS

Downtown Holland is partnering with HPS to host a winter gear donation drive to help keep elementary school students warm and dry this winter. A total of 14 Downtown Holland businesses will be collecting donations as part of the drive, being held from November 3 – 16. 

Holland Public School families in need will be able to collect the items at their Power H shopping event on November 19, with details provided to students by HPS.

Pre-K Farm School
students learn about baby chicks.

 In partnership with the Critter Barn, Holland Public School is now offering Pre-K Farm School.

  • 4-year-old students will travel to the Critter Barn each week for lessons about life on the Farm.
  • Lessons they learn at the farm will help teach students about Math and Reading.
  • Develop and nurture each child's academic, social, emotional, and creative abilities.
  • Students will build friendships and experience caring teachers.

There are limited openings in the 25-26 HPS Pre-K Farm School.

GSRP is a grant-funded preschool program through MiLeap that is FREE for families who qualify.  Students must be 4 years-old by December 1 to enroll. Classes are offered at each of our Elementary buildings with a variety of family needs in mind. In 2024-2025, Our program will be offered at

  • West
  • HLA
  • Jefferson

 (Due to construction, pre-school programs will not be available at Holland Heights in 2024-2026.)

  • Proof of address. (Please bring a current bill or lease agreement that shows your current address.)
  • Photo ID of parent or guardian enrolling the student.
  • Student's birth certificate
  • Immunization records
  • Complete name and address of previous school and phone number

Every Day is an ADVENTURE at HPS Preschool:

  • Our day starts with breakfast to give our brain and body energy for the day.
  • During morning meeting we talk about the fun things we are going to do during the day.
  • We get to play outside with our friends, and explore our naturescape playgrounds.
  • In our classroom we learn through play during choice time. Our classrooms are set up with different areas, such as: art, library, math and science, blocks, toys and games, dramatic play, sensory and much more! 
  • Every day we have a large group read aloud, and also break into small groups where teachers work with students on specific learning objectives.
  • We get to eat a healthy lunch, and enjoy more time exploring on our playgrounds. 
  • By then, our bodies are getting tired, so we take a break with a rest time. 
  • We finish our day with a snack, and get ready to go home for the day.
